Executive Chef Laurent Manrique is no stranger to finer things. Born in France, he received his first apprenticeship in Paris at the tender age of 14, and was trained by some of the best chefs in Europe. He relocated to Los Angeles in 1991 to work for two high-end restaurants, Fennel and Rex, which led to opportunities in New York. He was quickly recognized as a Bon Appetit Rising Star Chef, and soon thereafter permanently relocated back to the West Coast to work in San Francisco fine dining.

Outside of his culinary achievements, Manrique is also known for his big heart. He continually brings attention to various philanthropics, including the Taste and Tribute, an event he started himself. It features over 20 chefs each year, and all proceeds go to benefit Tibetan aid.

You may be overwhelmed by Aqua restaurant’s impressive selection, and it can be difficult to commit to one entrée. It is important to note that Aqua is famous for its abilities to put modern Eurpoean-styled spins on seafood, providing plenty of opportunity to discover fish in a whole new way.
